Gombaniya Hike | 5th Excursion

Join Art of Travel for the fifth edition of its Gombaniya hiking excursion, a full-day mountain adventure through the rugged landscapes of the Knuckles Mountain Range.

Gombaniya rises above the forest and tea-estate landscapes surrounding Alakola Estate and Huluganga. The mountain is known for its bamboo-covered ridges, misty conditions, open rock viewpoints and a succession of false summits before the commonly visited peak.

On clear days, hikers can experience wide views towards Yakunge Hela, Kirigalpoththa, Kellabokka, Kuda Oya and the surrounding Knuckles terrain.

The experience is suited to physically prepared hikers who are comfortable with uneven forest paths, elevation gain, changing weather and long periods of walking. Previous route reports warn that water sources may be limited beyond the estate section and recommend beginning early, carrying sufficient water and preparing for mist, wind and leeches.

This is not a casual sightseeing visit. Participants should follow the official guide’s instructions, use suitable footwear and confirm the final meeting point, route, weather decision and required equipment before joining.
