World Congress on Snakes 2026

Discover Sri Lanka’s extraordinary biodiversity at the first-ever World Congress on Snakes, bringing international snake researchers, conservationists, wildlife specialists and enthusiasts together in the historic hill city of Kandy.

Held from 1–4 October at The Grand Kandyan Hotel, the congress explores the fascinating world of snakes through talks, symposiums, workshops, scientific presentations and discussions covering ecology, behaviour, conservation, snakebite, venom research and human-wildlife coexistence.

Sri Lanka provides an exceptional setting for the event. Visitors can combine the congress with Kandy’s cultural attractions while learning about reptile conservation in one of the world’s important biodiversity regions.
